Now, we have produced our final models that shaped according to our final design decisions. Basically, my design shaped according to properties of the land and coast. In this peninsula there are some differentiations in terms of level of trees, density and variety of trees, slope level, changes in level and density of reeds etc. Therefore, my design decisions were formed according to these characteristics of peninsula.
Here is the plans and sections of my models in a scale of 1/200.
According to my observation, I realized that in Eymir, there is circulation. Although there are some branching in routes, they are always connecting with the main part. Therefore, I want to continue this in our site. I specified a focal point which is the top of the first hill. The reason why it is the focal point is that it is the only place where people see both side of the Eymir. Therefore my all routes complete a circulation and they always reach this focal point so it becomes a transition part.
In my project, I focused on coast and land duality. Routes for one person and five people shape the coast usage. The route for one person is coming from Bağevi as a bridge and connects to focal point. The route for five people is for rowing team. They have two pier and one of them is connecting with the bridge. A part of the bridge is going under the water to feel what happens under the water. This also allows the transition of canoes and boats.
The reeds are important transition part. When the pier connects to the bridge, the bridge is rising and it allows us to look to the reed from above. When it closes up to the land to emphasize the space alteration it is going down and penetrate to the reeds. The reeds gives us the feeling of enclosure when the bridge switches to land from lake.
The route for fifteen people shape the land usage. People generally come to Eymir for biking and with this route I want to give a chance to bike in this peninsula. It is generally going where we walk when we go there because in this peninsula there is differentiation between north side and south side in terms of level of trees, density and variety of trees, slope level etc. So they can observe this differentiation when they follow this route. There are also some branching to experience both side separately. One is southwest side where the density of trees decrease. It becomes a layover space. The other one is in northeast side. It has stiff line so people can feel the slope and the density of trees easily.
Here are my plans in scale of 1/500 and 1/200 and also models of some parts of my design in scale of 1/200 and 1/20.
This is the first assignment of our Architectural Design course.
What is expected to us to revisit our instance model and transform into a series of spaces accommodating human scale. While we are doing this, we are also introduced a musical piece to get a rhythm for movement, consisting of chancing routes and paces within the spaces. First I chose the music which is Unchain My Hearth by Joe Cocker and I analized its rhythm and paces. I found where the music slows down or vice versa and what I feel when this changes occur. Then we should have a single human figure that moves within and through instance-spaces so we should work on proportion and human scale. Thus, I chose myself as a single human figure annd measured myself according to my movement. Then I reflected my analyses to my model and I did my model in 1/50 scale.
And this is my ADS that includes all my diagram studies I did through the whole assignment.
In the last step of this project, I transformed my instance according to spatial properties of the field. As I said, in the field there was centralization and when we move away the center the density is decreasing. The transformation of the instance was shaped according to this idea. There is a most compact part in my instance in terms of density of the volumes and size of volumes. However, when we move away from this part, dissolution steps in by using large scale elements and by increasing the size of the volumes. And there is a spatial property in terms of the interaction of the field with the instance. In the most compact part the characteristic of the field is stable. My first hinge type is in this stable part of the field. In this part the field interacts with the instance by thrusting through some elements of the instance so it creates my first type hinge. However in the other parts, the dissolved part shaped the field. However there is a rule while the field is shaping. In my field there was orientation to the center so the field’s surfaces which shave the dissolved part have created volumes and in these volumes, the orientation of the greater surface forming the volume is to the center which is my compact part. And this shave action create my second type hinge. My third hinge is not about the instance and field interaction, it is just about the instance interaction. The sum of the parts that touch there parts is creating the whole instance so to decompose them from the others I differentiate their texture and I extrude these three elements of the instance.
PS: The description of the Hinge is different from the real meaning of it. It is an abstract meaning like physical connection and interaction of the elements.
The purpose of this assignment is to experiment the spatial effects of different shade and shadow properties of th Instance model which we designed in Arch 102 course. Therefore, I took tese photos in different light condition and direction.
This is the first step of our field. In this step what is expected to us producing 2D surfaces by using series of strings stretched along a frame which has the size 49,53 x 99,06 cm. The surfaces’ proporties shold be defined by the frequency, correlations, interrelations, directions and angles of the lines and while we are producing the first step of the field by taking into consideration our diagram that we create after the trip in Kayaköy.
While I am producing my model, first I focused on the frequency of the lines. I observed the centralization and I did my diagram according to this observation and also when we get close the center the density is increasing so in my field model I create some density part within the frame and move away from this part the density is decreasing and also from my observation I stretched the strings angular way to show the orientation to the center.
